The new series not only didn't ignore the half human comment, they retconned it perfectly. If you'll recall, in the tv movie, the Doctor and Grace had just kissed before the Master makes his half-human comment. In Smith and Jones, the Doctor kisses Martha in order to pass as human in front of the Judoon.
